Ms. Castillo concentrates her practice in the areas of eminent domain, commercial litigation, real estate transactions, construction dispute and mechanics’ lien litigation. She represents various governmental agencies in all matters associated with property development including site selection due diligence, property designation, property acquisition and construction related disputes.

Representative Matters

• Served as counsel to municipal corporation and successfully resolved litigation claims including construction defects, mechanics liens, architecture errors and omissions, and other related claims.

• Counsel to the City of Chicago and the Chicago Park District for the Bloomingdale Trail Project: The 606, which dedicated railroad right of way into a public park.

• Successfully defended challenge to zoning reclassification of Chicago Public School

• Counsel to numerous governmental authorities in site selection and land acquisition for the development of new police stations, fire stations, schools and libraries

• Counsel to the Metropolitan Pier & Exposition Authority for public project development

• Counsel to various public bodies in various mechanics’ lien litigation and construction claim disputes

• Counsel to numerous property owners in eminent domain matters against the Illinois Department of Transportation

• Counsel to commercial landlords in lease negotiation and forcible entry and detainer actions
